THE COMMUNITY REMAINS VIGILANT IN LIGHT OF A SEXUAL ATTACK THAT TOOK PLACE THURSDAY MORNING; THE VICTIM WAS WALKING TO WORK AT BROOKLYN HOSPITAL WHEN THE ASSAULT OCCURRED
Council Member Letitia James; State Senator Velmanette Montgomery; Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries; the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill Public Safety Task Force; and concerned residents will gather on the corner of St. Felix Street and Fulton Street for an emergency press conference on Friday, Jan. 23rd, at 3 pm, to discuss this incident and the need for practicing self-protection.
This unfortunate criminal attack happened on Thursday during the early morning hours. Elected officials and residents are using the incident as an opportunity to call for more police presence in the community. Also, it is an occasion for everyone to remember to increase their awareness when walking alone, and specifically for women to remember safety tips, and practice awareness and self-defense tactics at all times.
