The New York City Department of Finance wants you to know that you can now contest Parking and Environmental Control Board tickets on-line!

ATTENTION: NYC-ECB Makes Appeals Available Online; Develops Info Video


The NYC Environmental Control Board (ECB) is a neutral forum where hearings on tickets issued by 12 different City Agencies are held. ECB is committed to making the administrative hearing process fair and accessible to everyone who wants their day in court, in order to assist you, ECB has:

-Enhanced its website to provide helpful information to the public
-Made free translation services available in every hearing room
-Reduced decision turn-around times to 30 days or fewer
-Created informational materials for the public

Appeals are now available online at www.nyc.gov/ecb. Hard-copy appeals are still available in office, and are available in both English and Spanish. The ECB is also concerned with offering assistance in understanding the appeals process, and have developed a 3 minute informational video. You can view the video on their website at www.nyc.gov/ecb

ATTENTION: NYC Penalty Relief Program

The NYC Penalty Relief Program, a joint program between the administration and the New York City Council that was established through Local Law 47-2009, will begin on September 21st.

The Penalty Relief Program will allow businesses and homeowners who have outstanding default judgments against them from the Environmental Control Board (ECB) to pay only the base violation fine amount, with the City waiving the default judgment, late fees, and all other penalties and interest. The program will be open for three months, from September 21st through December 21st, 2009

Basic Info:

· This is a three-month program that is authorized by Mayor Bloomberg and City Council that allows businesses to resolve ECB violations by paying a base fine without having to pay any other penalties.

· If the violation regards a correctable condition, then this condition must be met before being eligible to enter the program.
