On January 7, 2009, Governor David Paterson delivered his State of the State to prominent lawmakers in the New York State Assembly Chamber. The focus of the Governor's speech was the economy and healthcare/public health.
Council Member James, along with most of her colleagues in the New York City Council, attended the first Stated Council Meeting in the City Hall Council Chambers during the speech; but later applauded the leadership put forth by Governor Paterson.
