Position Vacancy Education Director/Special Needs Coordinator for Head Start

Bank Street Head Start is immediately seeking an Education Director/Special Needs coordinator for its program located at 113 East 13 Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The candidate must hold a Masters Degree in Education (Early Childhood preferred) and New York State Certification in Education (Early Childhood or K thru sixth grade). Candidates with a degree, certification or experience working with children with special needs are preferred.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the supervision of a teaching staff of 10 teachers, coordinating referrals and monitoring services provided for children with special needs, coordination of volunteers and interns, observing and evaluating staff, providing training for staff and parents, meeting with parents, assuring that a developmentally appropriate curriculum is provided for all children and completing reports required by funders.

Qualifications
The candidate must hold a Masters Degree in Education (Early Childhood preferred) and New York State Certification in Education (Early Childhood or K thru Sixth Grade). Candidates with a degree, certification or experience in working with children with Special Needs are preferred.
