On The Legislative Front

It's been quite a while since we've done a legislative update, so here is a list of the legislation that Council Member James has introduced since September 2008:

Res. 1700-2008 – Resolution calling upon the New York State Legislature to pass and the governor to sign A.10258, which would provide that no applicant for, nor recipient of, child care assistance shall be required to pursue a court order for child support as a condition of eligibility for child care assistance. Res. 1701-2008 – Resolution supporting the Department of Education’s health education programs and urging the Department of Education to ensure that all middle and high school students have access to an appropriate health education curriculum, and encouraging the Department of Education and the Department of Heath and Mental Hygiene to provide regular status reports on teen pregnancy rates. Res. 1724-2008 (with CM Mendez and Mark-Viverito) – Resolution calling upon the New York State Legislature to pass and the Governor to sign legislation amending the Public Housing Law to forgo Payments in Lieu of Taxes on New York City Housing Authority City and State Projects.
