Update: Offensive Billboard Targeting Abortion in Black Community Removed

A Message from Council Member Letitia James--

"Earlier this afternoon, my office received confirmation from Women of Color Network (NYU) and Lamar Outdoor Advertising that the offensive billboard by Life Always targeting abortion in the black community would be removed today, Thursday, February 24, 2011. I consider the outrage voiced by myself, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Planned Parenthood, and numerous advocacy agencies and New Yorkers to have been successful in sending the clear message that Black women and children will not be misrepresented in political efforts to attack reproductive rights."

Job well done, I just saw the petition and it was already done.

From '75-'97, I was active in the prehospital care community, starting out an 'Ambulance Driver', ending up an 'Instructor Paramedic', in the urban enviornment which includes this racist effort, (the 'womb is a dangerous place for blacks' sign).
Isn't it odd how the 'publically pious' NEVER seem to equate poverty, &/or, unemployment, (both chronically elevated data sets in Black America), with the
'premature morbidity/mortality' statistics experienced by the Black community!
Funny how the Family Research Council (an example of a failed
'culture warriors' effort), fails to notice the '13-15% gen. population/70-80% incarcerated population' stats as a threat to black Americans!
Haly Barbour, (R.-MS) is running for president in '12; He has endorsed commorative license plates to 'honor' Nathan Bedford Forrest, a confederate who helped organize the KKK!
He also endorsed billboards across the south which use another black child to suggest abortion is at fault for the racisim of the United States!
I have sent a critical email to each & every organization that persisits in this self-defeating billboard effort & will continue to do so...
In relation to this effort, I have also taken great pains, (by way of editorial e/m's), to remind old man Ratzinger, (currently leading 'N.A.M.B.L.A., On-The-Tiber', another failed culture warrior), that his organization hasn't seen me, (or...my wallet!)in about 40 years, L.O.L.!
