NYC SCA Business Development Programs

Through the Department of Education's multi-billion dollar Five-Year Capital Plan FY2010-2014, the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) is committed to providing contracting opportunities to minority-owned, woman-owned and local business enterprises (MWLBE).

The SCA offers several business development programs that promote the growth, education and success of diverse SCA-certified and qualified MWLBE firms. Key components of the support provided by the SCA through their initiatives include:

- Training
- Programs tailored to individual firms' needs
- Partnering & networking opportunities
- Union transition information & support
- Mentoring
- Subcontracting opportunities
- Access to bonding & capital

All Capacity and Capital Improvements projects are subject to a minimum 20% MWLBE participation goal. The SCA also incorporates MWLBE participation as a selection criterion in most consultant Request for Proposals (RFPs).
